WTF with Apple's iPad?

By ptejada | Thu Feb 04, 2010

ImageOkay soo here are my thoughts..WTF? First of all..is this a phone or is it a computer? If its a phone its entirely too big. If its a computer it is not even close to doing enough for me to call it that and also for me to be paying that much for it. And what exactly does it do really? So far I have not even found any thing that greatly distinguishes these "magical" abilities that this product offers.

But seriously Apple what are you doing? You literally just made a bigger iTouch with iPhone and Kindle capabilities with additional finances that overflow the costs of owning an Iphone,Itouch AND a Kindle. The iBook feature is honestly the only thing worth talking about but still..I am positive most consumers rather pay $200 for a kindle. The price is honestly not even something I'm gonna take into much consideration right now because I am almost sure the retail will drop coming to its official drop, or maybe sometime after, just like what happened with the Iphone.

I know the big show stopper is suppose to be that this gadget is literally a pocket PC. First of all..it cannot even fit into your pocket. Second it does not seem to have any real capabilities of a pc/laptop. It does not even run a multiprogramming OS! Indicating that its core functions will be based on applications(similar to how your iphone/itouch works). There are NO flash capabilities, and not even the slightest bit of sufficient memory to run efficiently as a CPU.

There is absolutely nothing convenient about this product, as it suggested. There seems to be no big difference between its predecessors. Its honestly not your best reader, with its backlights and praised illuminance that is known to not be healthy for the eyes.Lets not forget that in a few months we're going to be introduced to the 2nd and 3rd generations that will just fix the inevitable glitches and add sum more trivial and non-sufficient features while also raising the retail price.Whats sad is that people are probably gonna jump on this like hot cakes due to the recent Apple frenzy.I am happy that I am educated enough to see bullshit when its staring me right in the EYE.

MAG

By SnakeED | Thu Feb 04, 2010
Image

The name of the game, Massive Action Game, says it all, this game is Massive, with a lot of Action. It supports 256 players in one match. The maps are huge and highly detailed, and the weapons are fun and unique.

This is one of this games that is really meant to be reviewed by gamers and not editors, Here is how a review from an IGN editor looks and here is how a review from a 1up gamer looks like

You can have have more than 4 weapons equip at a time, including a rocket launcher, two grenade types, two guns, two healing guns and more.
I find that Snipers are favored on the first map/game mode, so you better know how to avoid them, or become one yourself.

I also like how they ease you into the game. There is a full offline tutorial that will teach you the basics, and the first game-mode (Team Deathmatch) only allows 64 people to compete in one match, which you'll be thankful for when you earn a high enough rank to unlock the full 256 player games, which can get a little chaotic at times.

The maps are huge for an online-only game, so expect to get lost at least once while your trying to find the enemy base. The maps are also highly detailed, and any explosions you see far off in the distance is from an actual player throwing a grenade or calling in an air strike. Nothing isn't massive with this game. The minimum amount of players is 64, that's 32 on each team! Most other games only support 32 players or less, let alone 64, or 256.

A lot of people are assuming MAG would have LAG (No pun intended), but after playing not one, but 10 full length 256 player matches, I have to say that there is virtually no lag, which is surprising giving the amount of action that goes on.

PC Games

By SnakeED | Wed Jan 20, 2010

New PC Games Have been added to the Private (members Only) Downloads Area In the Forums. The sequel to the PC GOTY Left 4 dead is Left 4 Dead 2.

Image

Like the original, Left 4 Dead 2 is set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, and focuses on four survivors fighting against hordes of the infected. The survivors must fight their way through levels, interspersed with safe houses that act as checkpoints, with the goal of reaching a rescue vehicle at the campaign's finale. The gameplay is procedurally altered by an artificial intelligence engine dubbed the "Director" that monitors the players' performance and alters the scenario to provide a dynamic challenge for the players as they progress. Several new features have been introduced, such as new types of infected, melee weapons, and a story-arc that connects each of the game's five campaigns together.

Head Over to the Forums Downloads Section and make your own request.
